Charge Amps has launched a new feature dubbed ‘Green Charging’ that will enable its customers to charge their electric vehicles (EV) using only solar power.

Residents with solar panels installed on their rooftops, a measurement device and the Swedish charging company’s app will be able to use it to charge their EV or combine domestic solar generation and grid electricity to charge their vehicles.

The solution works for both single and multi-family homes, as well as offices.

With over 115,000 charge points installed in more than 15 markets, the launch of this new feature will help reduce the impact of charging an EV on the grid system as well as maximising energy and cost efficiency.

Anders Bergtoft, CEO at Charge Amps, said: “Charge Amps is on a mission to create a sustainable and brighter future. We do this by helping the transition towards fully electric fleets on roads right across Europe. To achieve this, electric car charging needs to be accessible, smart, sustainable and easy, and we are always working on ways to ensure that we are at the forefront of all four.”
