HBS New Energies has been awarded a contract by Wain Homes to install solar PV amounting to a total of just under 300kWp on 123 new low-carbon dwellings.
The Saxon Gate housing development consists of a total of 198 new homes in the town of Ivybridge, Devon, with HBS to design, supply and install complete in-roof solar systems for over half of these properties. This comes after the company launched the in-roof solar solution in February in partnership with JA Solar and GSE Integration.
The average PV array size to be installed at Saxon Gate comes in at 2.4kWp, with the HBS New Energies design team having worked with Wain Homes to engineer a solar solution that maximised kWh performance within the specification and budget.
Work on the site is set to start later this year, with HBS to use its own labour force of professional roofers and fully qualified electricians. It secured the contract for the solar following a competitive tender process.
James Bull, managing director of HBS New Energies, said the company will be focused on “streamlining the solar specification process” for Wain Homes’ team and “supporting the construction of much-needed energy-efficient new homes”.
It follows the installer signing other agreements with housebuilders, including one with Taylor Wimpey for the installation of solar, energy storage and electric vehicle chargers for up to 77 residential properties in Hampshire.
