Consultations have begun for Springwell Solar Farm, a joint venture by EDF Renewables UK and the solar developer, Luminous Energy, situated between Lincoln and Sleaford in Lincolnshire.

The new 800MW solar farm will be co-located with battery storage and has already secured a grid connection from the National Grid, said a spokesperson from Springwell Solar Farm.

The consultations will run for six weeks until 7 March, alongside a series of four public exhibitions to receive community responses.

The design of Springwell Solar Farm includes recreational, landscape and ecological enhancements such as new habitats and improvements to the footpath network at the site.

Ben Fawcett, head of solar at EDF Renewables UK, urged local communities to share their opinions on the solar farm’s early plans: “We are currently at a very early stage with our plans for Springwell, with the feedback we receive during this consultation helping to inform our plans while they are still being developed.”

Lincolnshire has seen a host of developments recently, most notably the 350MW Mallard Pass Solar Farm, which moved to public consultation earlier this year.
