UK-based solar developer Boom Power has received planning permission for a 49.9MWac solar project on approximately 94 hectares of land in Kenley near Hull, East Yorkshire.
Kenley solar farm is the third site Boom Power has gained planning approval for this year.[Molly Lem1]
The project also includes a number of ecological enhancements, which aim to achieve a new biodiversity gain. Boom Power have said that upon its completion, the site will see a “net increase of 77% in biodiversity units, 108% increase in hedgerow units and lastly a 14% increase in river units.”
Mark Hogan, founder of Boom Power said: “We have a long-term commitment to Kenley Solar Farm whereby we aim to oversee the construction phase which is anticipated to commence mid-2023, timelines will largely be driven by the final grid connection dates, Boom Power will run as fast as the ability to export energy allows.”
Beyond the Kenley solar site, the company is also looking to develop a 400MW National Significant Infrastructure Project in East Yorkshire, which it is currently in communication with the local community regarding.
Statutory consultation for this project is expected to being next year.
