BayWa r.e. has been granted Provisional Acceptance for the repowering of Gresham House’s 4.984MWp ground mounted solar park Lake Farm.
This follows the company finalising another repowering deal, this one being for Kingston Farm, with Gresham House in April.
Lake Farm sits across 6.88 hectares in Wiltshire, UK, and was commissioned in 2011. Repowering it will improve performance, reduce intervention costs by utilising the latest components and equipment and open up new possibilities in terms of operations and maintenance, BayWa r.e. said.
Modernising and optimising PV power plants can “considerably improve its availability and production, and thus offer significant improved return on investment” said Natasha Kumar, managing director, BayWa r.e. Operation Services Ltd, adding that they were delighted to have received the Provisional Acceptance for Lake Farm.
Speaking to Solar Power Portal, Kumar said that the BayWa r.e. was commissioned by Gresham House to undertake an extensive study of its sites and identify potential improvements. Repowering Lake Farm will help extend the design lifespan by 20 or 25 years, by exchanging older inverters and modules with modern counterparts.
BayWa r.e. has a portfolio of more than 2GW of solar and wind under operation in the UK, and has recently been working to expand its operations, including a management shakeup earlier this year and the opening of its third office in the UK in Edinburgh.
Bozkurt Aydinoglu, investment director at Gresham House added that it was “very pleased that Provisional Acceptance has been accepted at Lake Farm” and that the company was looking forward to achieving further benefits from future repowering projects.
Gresham House has been continuing to build its solar portfolio in the UK, including announcing a new partnership with Anesco for the development of a 200MW solar PV portfolio in January.
