The Forge Project – a town centre project to support the homeless – is among a number of rural hubs in North Lincolnshire to receive a share of £88,240 in grant funding towards solar panel installations.
The funding is provided by SSE’s Sustainable Development Fund (SDF), which is aimed at renewable development projects from community focussed or charitable organisations.
Projects to receive the funding include:
- The Forge Project in Scunthorpe,
- Foreman Carter Centre at Westwoodside Playing Field
- Winterton Community Pavilion
- Broughton Village Hall
- Crowle & Ealand Playing Field Pavilion
- Crowle Community Hall
Once installed, the solar panels will significantly reduce energy bills and help insulate the centres against price increases.
“This is a major step forward that will see local communities embracing green energy and cutting carbon emissions as well as energy bills,” Cllr David Rose, cabinet member for Environment.
“It is exactly what we want to see happening in North Lincolnshire – communities and organisations taking advantage of the help available to them to take positive action for the environment.”
